Posted on February 2, 2010, under Sports Cars Articles.

Datsun 240Z's story begins in 1969 when it launched as a 1970model the world of motors. The Datsun 240Z is not a new concept as many manufacturers of motor sport achieved an excellent performance, strong technology and attractive design, with mediocre interiors at a low price. The 240Z success was also due to the fact that the car has perfected the idea of a low-cost, reliable sports cars. The person responsible for the design and creation of the Datsun240Z was Yutaka Katayama and in recognition of his commitment to this legendary vehicle was in the 1998 Automotive Hall of Fame induction.

The history of Datsun 240Z engine is very interesting because it is a deviant of the Datsun 1600 engine which in itself was a copy of 1960 Mercedes-Benz six-cylinder engine with two cylinders less. Add two more cylinders back to the Datsun 1600 engine, and you have the 240Z engine with 151 brake horse. With 146 pounds-feet of torque, itA vehicle can reach 0-sixty in eight seconds, add the rack and pinion in front and independent suspension and you have a machine with a fast response, excellent performance and handling. Bring everything to a halt in the few seconds that was before brakes. Prysetiket with the launch of $ 3500 is much smaller than its competitors in the market at that time.

There is a strong history of the Datsun 240Z Sports Car Club of America, because it is a production of class C dominatesclass in 10 years 1970-1979. John Morton row for businesses Brock in 1970 and in 1971 was the first victory in SCCA C-production class racing with a 240Z. In 1972, winner in 1973 and again in 1975, Bob Sharp was in a 240Z with Walt Mass continues the race winner in 1974.

1974 was an increase in displacement to 2.6 liters and the vehicle was renamed the 260Z actually lead to the end of the scale seen 240Z has sold less than 117,000 models during its lifetime. The260Z engine has a lower power brake 139 due to higher emissions standards in the United States each year past.

The Datsun 260Z seems to be a more practical car than its predecessor, and during his first year and only when production is 63,963 units will provide the Z series all time sales record is sold.

The history of Ferrari

Posted on January 30, 2010, under Sports Cars Articles.

When Enzo Ferrari created his company Scuderia Ferrari in Italy in 1929, his intention was to sponsor amateur race car drivers and invent cars, and would be more than 15 years before Ferrari began to create their cars on the road right in 1946. Ferrari is still devoted to the creation of racing cars and high performance sports cars and do other types of engines to subscribe. Scuderia Ferrari is still the name of the town for the Gestione Sportiva, part of the Ferrari company, which works with the races. Scuderia is an Italian word and means "stable", but the Scuderia Ferrari is sometimes also translated as Team Ferrari.

In the early years, with the sponsorship of the Scuderia Ferrari drivers of the Alfa Romeo he drove. Scuderia Ferrari Alfa Romeo cars before the race would be to prepare, and in 1938 Enzo Ferrari became officially employed by Alfa Romeo racing department. Two years later, it was Enzo Ferrari, AlfaRomeo had planned to absorb the Scuderia Ferrari, a plan strongly opposed to Enzo Ferrari. He immediately left his job at Alfa Romeo, but his contract was limited to those who are involved in the running for some years. Scuderia Ferrari has changed to "Auto Avio Costruzioni Ferrari" and officially manufactured accessories of the aircraft for some years. Enzo Ferrari was a racing car in this period of time. Type 815 made its debut at the Mille Miglia in 1940, but the competition wasprevented because of World War II and the Type 815 did not find any real competition. In 1943 Enzo Ferrari moved his factory to Maranello in Italy and one year after the factory was bombed. After the end of WWII, Enzo Ferrari rebuilt his factory and now the Ferrari was able to build the road as cars.

Ferrari has built its first road car in 1947. S 1947 125, Ferrari had a 1.5 L V12 engine and the whole car was considered very beautiful and well designed. EnzoFerrari have always been more interested in racing cars and Ferrari are just a way for him to finance his work with the Scuderia Ferrari. His aversion for clients of the road car are well known and has even accused them of buying Ferrari cars as status symbols. It is true that growth Ferrari boast not only because of its excellent performance, but also thanks to their elegance. Pininfarina, Bertone, TDCi, Scaglietti, Touring and Vignale were allexamples of design houses that have worked with Ferrari.

In November 1961 a dispute between Enzo Ferrari and his sales manager Girolamo Gardini, turned into a crisis. Girolamo Gardini threatened to leave the company. Enzo Ferrari responded to the threat of throwing away Girolamo Gardini, and a number of employees who agreed with Girolamo Gardini was also ejected. Among them were Tavoni Romulus, director for Scuderia Ferrari, Giotto Bizzarrini, the head of a sports car testdevelopment, and Carlo Chiti, the chief engineer. It was obviously a great loss for the Ferrari and the deep crisis in which those who had thrown formed their own company – Automobili Turismo e Sport (ATS). ATS also managed to take over the Scuderia Serenissima, a team of highly successful automobile Ferrari.

A young engineer Mauro Forghieri, and an expert bodyman race, Sergio Scaglietti, take responsibility and try to finish the projects that the departureemployees had left. One important task is to complete the development of the 250 GTO, 250 to build a new model that can compete with the Jaguar E-type. The 250 GTO was finished in time for the race at Sebring and put them in first class, driven by Phil Hill. In the course of 1962, continuing the 250 GTO to win races and is still one of the most famous cars in the history of the race. The crisis seems to be something good for Ferrari and 1960, it is verygood decade for the company.

Until 1980, when Ferrari began using fuel injection in cars, Ferrari cars was known as very temperamental. They can be very reliable but still attract a large group of dedicated fans who felt that this is unpredictable "nature" rather than a problem. Today, FIAT control 56 percent of Ferrari shares. The remaining shares are owned by Piero Ferrari Enzo and Commerzbank, Mediobanca and LehmanBrothers. Maranello is still the home of Ferrari.
